The first offering will be September 28 and 29 with a concert called “When the Violin Sings” featuring music by contemporary Indian-American composer Reena Esmail. This composition is the centerpiece of the concert, originally written for solo violin, rewritten for choir, and cello solo, using a most welcoming Hafiz text. The concert will also feature the popular Serenade to Music by British composer Ralph Vaughan Williams and The Lark Ascending re-scored for solo violin and cello with the choir becoming the orchestra. Other featured selections include Vocalise by Rachmaninoff, La Muerte del Ángel by Piazzolla, Smile Thy Shores by Andrea Clearfield, and Chaconne by J.S. Bach with the poetry of W.H. Auden’s Stop All the Clocks.
